Is a HoC print a copy or an original?


Each print is unique for sure, but - because time is an integrative dimensioncomes - the question of copy or original depends on the state of your mind:
  • Pessimistic = Every day is the same
  • Optimistic = Every day is a new day

What´s the price to sell my HoC?


The point is, although the price is “created” in quite an unusual way, the outcome is marketable and saleable like any other artwork or commodity. Therefore you as an owner, you are free to barter and sell your "piece of money art" through our plattform on the secondary market at whatever price you choose - or you get.

As a hint: The price of today´s HoC is 937,50 €

Should you ever meet an alien, the fastest way to start a conversation with it is to talk about the prime numbers, because they are valid throughout the universe

What kind of funny edition is it?


Predecessors might be the special edition, limited edition and variants such as deluxe edition, collector´s edition of prints. Here the artist decides
  • on the total number of prints to be printed, he can limit the edition.
    By that the price range of the art work is decided too. It makes a big difference whether you print 60 pieces or 2,000 pieces.
     
  • on the actual number of each print.
    Alike it makes a difference if you want to purchase the art print 5/60 (Number five out of sixty) or  58/60 or  even 1,786/2,000.
But still those numbers are just a hint for the pricing; other aspects like the numbers of exhibitions and recensions, the price of other art works and so on have an impact on the market price then. The relationship between numbers and price is weak. Furthermore those numbers are rather seen as something additional, as something you have to print ON the art work  often as a marketing incentive.

In those terms the HoC edition is neither a unlimited - only one print per day – nor a limited edition - but one each day -; it is more a sustainable edition.

Let me explain:
 
The foundation of HoC is the HoC print .. it is a whimsical, naughty depiction of  the story of creation, drawn by the wonderful, cartoonist, Kment... and story written by Temt. The story includes the idea of temptation repesented by the devil.

When you join HoC it is not only about buying a print, you join a community!  The community accepts the multidimensional value of the HoC print and a whole whimsical bartering system and all the drama , desire, and the temptation to own "the" most meaningful print /impression, at any given time.
 
I mentioned that each print is valued by a multidimensional system with time adding value on a daily basis. Since 1993 only 1 HoC print is pressed on any given day.

Each print is an original! This fact is a bargaining point. (what special dates do you want to commemorate with a HoC?) Time – With each passing day the HoC increases in value by .10 there you have it, - the multidimensional system:
          
• the print
• the actual date
• value – adding 10 Cent daily


These dimensions are integral to each HoC print . The HoC community is worldwide and we envision that as the community grows, bartering of the HoC prints will grow as well. Who would not want to give a gift that never stops growing in value? Personally I own a HoC and it is giving me great pleasure to know that no matter what, I have ownership over something that is worth more each day! And when I look at my HoC print and see the little devil, hmmm, there is probably someone out there coveting my special HoC print because I am the only one holding that certain date!
 
The art of the HoC is that the market is not determining it"s value but the HoC is actualizing it"s own value and the community accepts it"s benevolence and buys in!

Money Art = The appropriation of Money by Art
 
How Money Art started
Each visual artist dealing with art prints, must - apart from any limitations of the printing process - also deal with two fundamental questions:
  1. How large should the edition be? The answer here could be an edition of 12, 50 or 100 prints for instance. Moreover each print of the edition has to be numbered carefully, like 1/100, 2/100 and finally 100/100.

     
  2. When an artist decides on the size and the numbering of his edition, this basically determines the prints´ price. This is because regarding the price it makes a huge difference whether there are going to be 50 or 100 or 10,000 copies, and whether an individual print has a low number such as 6/100 or a high one such as 87/100 or 9,354/10,000.
The marketing approach
Often artists do not answer these questions from an artistical but from a business perspective., Finally its about image and marketing: How do I position this print in my previous work, my œuvre? Am I working for an exclusive group or do I want to position my prints oin the mass market? What price per square centimeter have I reached so far, and shall I stick to it in terms of my prints too?

Furthermore, the gallery plays a major role in determining the number and thus the expected price. Ultimately, however, the market price is set by supply (= size of the edition) and demand.

Unsatisfactory
For us, this market-based approach became unsatisfactory, especially since the edition and its number are part of the artwork, often individually signed and guaranteed by the artist. We - perhaps traditionally - believe that every element of the art work shall be argued artistically and not within conventional market terms.

We therefore quite intensively engaged with the process of determining both the number of the respective issue and the price, and wondered whether it would be possible to not only define a price (-range) by the edition, but to set a very specific price. To what extent can an artist affect the price - especially in the field of art prints? How to bring about a paradigm shift from the price as an element outside, the external act of creating the art, to something inherent, part of the process of the work of art itself?

The bottom line: 

Can the price be justified solely artistically, regardless of the market?

Our artistic solution
We, as money artists, reached a conclusion by including a third element, next to number and price: the date. In dependence on the quantum entanglement we created a kind of money art share that is powerful enough to avoid being co-opted by the market, something that can sustainably hold its own in the market through its "artistic" pricing. Each art share - like todays - is a print on robust hemp paper, numbered 93.10265, priced 934,30 Euro and signed.


Instead of the price being the result of the market`s demand and supply, we entangled date, number and value - as in physics, creating a quantum entanglement, a grain of sand. When one of these elements is measured, the state of the other two changes - instantaneously.

For example, if we want to create the next art print, which is the next number, we have to do this on the following day, because that’s the artistic rule: If you change one element, like by adding 1 to the number, one day is added to the date and one to the value; in currency ten cents - without delay.

The economic consequence
The paradigm shift: The art work itself determines the financial value daily, instead of the artist, the gallery, the experts or the ups and downs of the art market..

For the owner the interesting point is, although the price is “created” in quite an unusual way, the outcome is marketable and saleable on our plattform like any other artwork or commodity.

The price for a piece of money art on the primary market is daily fixed by the art work itself, by the artistic rule. But when the HoC-owners start to sell their pieces of money art through our plattform on the secondary market, the realized price then will be the result of bargaining - on this market supply and demand regain their power.

Are there other examples in the history of art?


Roman Opalka (1931 – 2011)

When you talk about sustainable edition In fact, the artist, Roman Opalka, has painted only one image his lifelong, a picture full of figures with the title "1965/1 - ∞". He begun with a small white 1 in 1965 and since then he did nothing else, than to paint on grey background a number after the next. Number for number, year after year. As he had reached the 35327, the first picture was full; he called it "Detail". Then he began the next "Detail", which ended with the figure 55555.In the course of time he mixed more and more white in the background. Eventually his figures would have merged with the background finally. But before that Roman Opalk died, at the age of 29199 days. (Translated @ Hanno Rauterberg, Die Zeit, Nr 33, 11 August 2011)

Somehow familiarly to you? The "History of creation" also has the title "1993/1 - ∞", but - a little bit stricter - each number gets its own image and furthermore is not only an image, but also a 3 dimensional object too. Is Damien Hirst a money artist or an artist of money?

Art expert Charles Dupplin of the specialist insurer Hiscox on Damien Hirst"s diamond-encrusted human skull worth £50m: "This is a spectacular work and undoubtedly the work with the highest intrinsic value in modern and contemporary art".

Without doubt it is one of the most expensive works of art, but does that make it to money art? Hirst of course has a name on the art market and therefore he can charge (almost) any price for his works of art. But I have the feeling that he was not quite sure of this and that is why he argued about the value of the materials and therein lies the weakness of his approach.

So for me he is just a brilliant artist of money. Money artists can argue the price solely artistically, regardless of the name or the material used.

Can the price be justified solely artistically, regardless of the market?


This is one of the most important points of our art!

What is the different between you and Pater Lik, if there is any?


What Peter Lik and Kmentemt, we do have in common is the growing price of/within the edition. But what is different?

1. Approach:
Peter Liks has a marketing approach. His question is how to make a lot of money. Nothing wrong about that. And his answer is – I have to admit – a genius marketing trick as described above. He truly is an “Artist of money” like Hirst, Jeff Koons and others.

Our approach is completely different, it might even be the opposite, we do have an artistic approach and our question is: Can the price be justified solely artistically, regardless of the market? Our solution is the quantum entanglement of number, value (price) and time (date). As it is with the entanglement, when one of these elements is measured, the state of the other two changes - instantaneously. Therefore, if you change one element, like by adding 1 to the number, one day is added to the date and one to the value; in currency ten cents - without delay.

( Beside here is an other difference: Peter Liks marketing trick is just a statement not supported by science or art or …)

2. Price:
Peter Liks has kind of price levels for his artworks. if you buy our money art print you buy a kind of art share, and you are not purchasing it AT a price, but you are purchasing A UNIQUE price. The price is yours, literally! Furthermore, not just the price of each art print is unique, the date is unique too! Peter Lik does not have a time concept.
The price and the date will belong to you only and no one else, because tomorrow´s (01.03.2015) art print will have the authentic number 93.8194. Its value will be 8194 - increased by ONE - and therefore its price will be 727,20 € - raised by 10 Cent, and so on and on ....

3. Content:
Peter Liks photos are very decorative but there are no deeper layers or challenging questions.  We wrote a contemporary “History of Creation” by that reaching out for the deep culture of society, because those histories of creation narrate the basic relations like Human ⇔ God, Human ⇔ Time, Human ⇔Nature, Woman ⇔ Man, ... and by that Human ⇔ Art. Especially our economic sculptures question the art market and the art discourse.

4. Edition:
Peter Lik´s edition are all limited. Our edition is sustainable, just one print per day (=limited), but every day one (unlimited)

He makes more money then us, for sure.

Please explain the "artistic rules" once again to me?


The rules, as a small print at the bottom of each art print, demonstrated en detail by today’s HoC Money Art Print, are:

1. Number:
The number for the limited edition of only 1 art print we create today is 93.10297 . We could not use the traditional numbering for art prints like 3/100 or 276/10.000, because this only fits for numbers and not for time and value too:

2. Time:
Subtract the number 93.100 (this number is our key for figuring out any calendar date) from the authenticator number 93.10297, you get 10197 . Then add 10197 days to the date 01.01.1993 – the day the first Art Print was created - and you will get the 02.12.2020, which is today.

3. Value:
In the figure 93. 10297 , the number on the right of the peroid shows the actual accrued value of this particular Art Print which is today 10297. Therefore, the price for today´s HoC is 937,50 Euro plus 10% VAT.
 
Each new Art Print becomes part of a Sustainable Edition: Only one new Art Print will be created per day ... (limited),but every day a new Art Print ... (unlimited). An edition, with built in growth sustainability, not just in numbers but in monetary growth, Consistent, Sustainable, Measurable, Quantifiable Growth!

Each Art Print has the original signatures of KMENTEMT as proof.

Tomorrow´s History of Creation will have the Authenticity Number 93.10298. Its value will be 10298 - increased by ONE and and its price will be 937,60 Euro increased by 10 Cent.
 
As an owner of a HoC Art Print then, you are free to barter and sell your HoC Art Print at whatever price you choose.

What is the artistic discourse or measurment about and what is it certainly not?


Not about

Money art silences the art money talk, this fruitless commercial art speech. What´s the point , if you neither paid too much nor too less for your art work, if you exactly got the value you paid for and if the value is sustainable growing too? Why to complain about the commoditization of art, if you stand in front of a Commodity? There is no need to lament the financialization of art, if you walk through a Hedge Fund.

By declaring the appropriation of Money, declaring war, the risk is that none of the parties will win, but the chance is that this face to face fight will lead to a more balanced discours.

For us the valid and most interessting discourse about a piece of money art ist the secondary market.

The price for each piece of money art, be it a print or a sculpture, on the primary market is daily fixed by the art work itself, by the artistic rule. But since the HoC-owners can and trade trade their pieces of money art on our AR-plattform too, the new prices on the secondary market will be the "discourse" then and made visible in the AR-univers

Artistic Measurement

On this secondary market supply and demand regain their power. Allthough, there is always the daily increasing value of the new created HoC and this price might be taken into account by the market as a kind of reference too?! But to make a real different, to generate an even pleasant discourse we have to go much deeper, to the roots of society, to its deep culture.

An important element of the deep culture are for example archaic histories of creation, which narrate the basic relations like Human ⇔ God, Human ⇔ Time, Human ⇔ Nature, Woman ⇔ Man, ... and by that Human ⇔ Art.

A contemporary history of creation - like ours - has to include and to narrate the above ones plus further relations like Human ⇔ Science (The Big Boing), Sex ⇔ Child and Human ⇔ Money.

Wenn der Preis Teil des Kunstgenusses wird

Normalerweise ist der Preis eines Kunstwerkes nicht Teil des Kunstwerkes, sondern er wird vom Künstler vorgeschlagen, von der Galerie verdoppelt, durch Kunstexperten beeinflusst und letztendlich am Kunstmarkt entschieden.
 
Bei den österreichischen Künstlern Christopher Temt und Eugen Kment (=Kmentemt) jedoch ist ihre „History of Creation“ (= HoC ) nicht nur ein sorgfältig auf Hanfpapier gedruckter Kunstdruck, sondern darüber hinaus auch ein Kunstwerk, das sich den tradierten Kunstmarktgesetzen entzieht, sie in Frage stellt und letztendlich die Elemente und Gesetze bzw Regeln des Marktes als Teil des künstlerischen Schaffungsprozesse nützt.

Statt dass der Preis des Kunstwerkes das Ergebnis von Angebot und Nachfrage, vom Markt ist, wird hier von den Künstlern der Preis mit der Auflagezahl und dem Datum verschränkt – ähnlich wie bei der Quantenverschränkung: ändert sich eines der Elemente, so ändern sich die zwei anderen simultan mit.

Diese Verschränkung hat aber zur Folge, dass die Künstler immer nur einen HoC-Kunstdruck mit einem Preis pro Tag produzieren können. Wollen sie den nächsten HoC-Kunstdruck produzieren, so muss dies am nächsten Tag geschehen, denn ändert sich die Auflagezahl um Eins so ändert sich zugleich das Datum um einen Tag und der Preis um 10 Cent. Einer Visualisierung der Verschränkung, der Geburt eines HoC-Kunstdruckes können sie als Animation auf unser Begrüßungspage zuschauen.

Durch eben diese Verknüpfung ist es aber auch das Kunstwerk selber, das seinen eigenen Preis jeden Tag neu definiert und nicht der Künstler, die Galerie oder der Kunstmarkt. Obwohl der Preis auf eine so ungewöhnliche Art zustande kommt, ist das Ergebnis, der HoC-Kunstdruck kauf- und handelbar auf unserer Plattform wie jedes andere Kunstwerk oder Handelsgut. Neu mag daran sein, dass neben dem Preis und der Preisbildung auch die Zeit Teil des Kunstgenusses, Teil der Ästhetik sind.

In “History of Creation” zet het Duitse collectief Kmentemt de definitie van Money Art zo uiteen. Hun werk distantieert zich van de traditionele regels van de kunstmarkt, zet er vraagtekens bij en gebruikt deze regels uiteindelijk als onderdeel van het creatieve proces.


Geldkunst is de toe-eigening van geld door kunst

Het zakendoen is geen zaak van de kunst, behalve dat de kunst de elementen en wetten of regels van de markt gebruikt als onderdeel van haar artistieke creatieproces. Geldkunst is een antwoord op de toe-eigening van kunst door de markt.

Deze definitie van Geldkunst is onze kernactiviteit. Ons kunstwerk onttrekt zich aan de traditionele wetten van de kunstmarkt, stelt deze ter discussie en gebruikt (eigent zich toe) uiteindelijk de elementen en wetten of regels van de markt als onderdeel van het artistieke creatieproces.

Onze artistieke focus ligt op de "Prijs" als element en de "Vorming van de Prijzen" als regel of wet van de markt.

Onze artistieke oplossing gaat over een paradigmaverschuiving van de prijs als element buiten, van de externe handeling van het creëren van de kunst, naar iets dat inherent is aan het proces van het kunstwerk zelf.

Op de secundaire markt winnen vraag en aanbod weer aan kracht. Alhoewel, er is altijd de dagelijks toenemende waarde van de nieuw gecreëerde HoC. Deze prijs kan door de markt als een soort referentie worden beschouwd?! We noemen dit de artistieke meting van de economische ruimte *

Wat misschien nieuw is, is
dat de prijs, de prijsstelling en de tijd
deel uitmaken van de kunstbeleving, deel uitmaken van de esthetiek!

Бизнес не является бизнесом Искусства, за исключением того, что Искусство использует элементы и законы или правила рынка как часть процесса его художественного создания. Денежное Искусство - это ответ на присвоение искусства рынком.

Это определение Денежного Искусства является нашим основным бизнесом. Наше произведение искусства отрекается от традиционных законов рынка искусства, ставит их под сомнение и в конечном итоге использует (присваивает) элементы и законы или правила рынка как часть процесса его художественного создания.

Нашим художественным фокусом является "Цена" как элемент и "Формирование цен" как правило или закон рынка.

Наше художественное решение заключается в смещении парадигмы от цены как элемента извне, от внешнего акта создания искусства, к чему-то, присущему как часть процесса самого произведения искусства.

Художественным следствием является то, что само произведение искусства определяет финансовую ценность на первичном рынке, а не художник, галерея, арт-специалисты или взлеты и падения арт-рынка.

Интересный момент заключается в том, что хотя цена "создана" довольно необычным образом, результат является рыночным и продаваемым, как и любое другое произведение искусства или товар. На вторичном рынке спрос и предложение восстанавливают свою власть. Несмотря на то, что с каждым днем ценность вновь созданного HoC возрастает. Эта цена может быть учтена рынком в качестве своего рода референции?! Мы называем это художественным измерением экономического пространства.

Le commerce n"est pas l"affaire de l"Art, sauf que l"Art utilise les éléments et les lois ou règles du marché dans le cadre de son processus de création artistique. Argent L"art est une réponse à l"appropriation de l"art par le marché.

Cette définition du Money Art est notre cœur de métier. Notre travail artistique se soustrait aux lois traditionnelles du marché de l"art, les remet en question et, en fin de compte, utilise (s"approprie) les éléments et les lois ou règles du marché dans le cadre de son processus de création artistique.

Notre attention artistique se porte sur le "Prix" en tant qu"élément et la "Formation des Prix" en tant que règle ou loi du marché.

Notre solution artistique consiste en un changement de paradigme du prix en tant qu"élément extérieur, de l"acte extérieur de création de l"art, à quelque chose d"inhérent au processus de l"œuvre d"art elle-même.

El arte del dinero es la apropiación del dinero por el arte.

El negocio no es asunto del Arte, excepto que el Arte utiliza los elementos y las leyes o reglas del mercado como parte de su proceso de creación artística. El arte monetario es una respuesta a la apropiación del arte por parte del mercado.

Esta definición de Arte en dinero es nuestro negocio principal. Nuestra obra de arte abdica de las leyes tradicionales del mercado del arte, las pone en duda, y en última instancia utiliza (se apropia) los elementos y las leyes o reglas del mercado como parte de su proceso de creación artística.

Nuestro enfoque artístico se centra en el "Precio" como elemento y la "Formación de los Precios" como una regla o ley del mercado.

Nuestra solución artística se trata de un cambio de paradigma, desde el precio como elemento externo, desde el acto externo de crear el arte, a algo inherente como parte del proceso de la obra de arte en sí.

Nuestro concepto artístico es el entrelazamiento del precio, el tiempo y el número.

La consecuencia artística es que la obra de arte en sí misma determina el valor financiero en el mercado primario, no el artista, la galería, los expertos en arte o los altibajos del mercado del arte.
Por ejemplo, si queremos crear la próxima impresión de arte, que es el siguiente número, no podemos hacerlo hoy el 03.11.2020, tenemos que hacerlo mañana, porque esa es la regla artística impuesta:
Si cambias un elemento añadiendo uno al número (93.10268 => 93.10269 ), se añade un día a la fecha (=> mañana) y 10 céntimos al valor también (934,60 euros => 934,70 euros )

Lo interesante es que, aunque el precio se "crea" de una manera bastante inusual, el resultado es comercializable y vendible como cualquier otra obra de arte o mercancía. En el mercado secundario la oferta y la demanda recuperan su poder. Sin embargo, siempre está el valor en aumento diario del nuevo HoC creado. ¡¿Este precio podría ser tenido en cuenta por el mercado como una especie de referencia?! Kurzfassung:
Jedes HoC - sowohl als Teil einer ökonomischen Plastik als auch als Teil einer nachhaltigen Edition - definiert sich durch die Verküpfung der 3 Dimensionen Menge (n); Zeit (Tage), Wert (ATS, Euro, ..) und durch seine grundsätzliche marktfähige Natur.

Langfassung:
Die „History of Creation“ (= HoC) ist eine amüsante Geschichte über die Entstehung der Welt in englischer Sprache, wobei die Schöpfung durch eine Gedankenlosigkeit von Gott in Gang gesetzt wird: „The Big Boing“. Die weitere Entwicklung wird dann von neuen Ideen – Sex ist eine davon - angetrieben. Die originellen Zeichnungen geben der Geschichte die notwendige Leichtigkeit und Lebensfreude. Doch wo Gott ist, ist der Teufel auch nicht weit: In der Kunst ist dies - das Geld!

Jedes HoC - sorgfältig auf Hanfpapier gedruckt - ist nicht nur ein Kunstdruck, sondern darüber hinaus auch ein Kunstwerk, das sich den tradierten Kunstmarktgesetzen entzieht, sie in Frage stellt und letztendlich die Elemente und Gesetze bzw Regeln des Marktes als Teil des künstlerischen Schaffungsprozesse nützt. Denn mit seiner jeweiligen "Authentic Number 93.xxx" ist jedes HoC auch Teil einer Ökonomischen Plastik, mit folgenden 3 Dimensionen bzw Achsen:

1. Menge (n)
2. Zeit (Tage)
3. Wert (ATS, Euro, ..)

Betrachtet man die ganze bisherige Edition seit dem 01.01.1993, so entsteht in diesem 3-dimensionalen Raum ein Gebilde, eine Art Werte-Helix, die sich mit jedem Tag und jedem HoC weiterbaut. Poetischer kann man es als Perlenkette oder auch als nachhaltig wachsenden Geldbaum bezeichnen.
 
Wenn Eigentümer ihre HoCs verkaufen, marktgängig machen wollen, so gibt es für sie keinen vorgegebenen Preis. Der Markt kommt zum Tragen - der Preis bildet sich wie üblich aus Angebot und Nachfrage. Die erzielten Preise und die Veränderungen über die Zeitachse sind neue Werte in den obigen Koordinaten. Diese Werte sind wie neue Perlen, die mit sich den Wert aller HoCs auf der Zeit-Wert-Kette immer höher schrauben - denn das schon Vorhandene, bestehend aus jeweils einzigartigen Nummern (n) ist unabänderlicher Bestandteil des Ganzen ... und mit einem Herzschlag am Tag wächst es zu einer Nachhaltigen Edition heran, in der jedes Teil für sich auch das Ganzen enthält.
 
P.S.: Für den Markt ist ein HoC an sich ein Störfaktor - aber genauso wie eine Muschel auf einen Fremdkörper im Inneren mit der Bildung einer Perle reagiert, kann der Markt mit Schalen von Preisen um einen HoC-Preis reagieren. HoCs können – einmal am Markt - wie jede andere Ware am Kunstmarkt gehandelt werden. Obwohl, es gibt ja immer den jeweiligen Tagespreis des aktuellen HoCs ?!
